Misson Statement

HANDCRAFT TAILOR SCHOLARSHIP AWARD is an inclusive competition aiming to provide opportunities for degree students on art and design based courses across the UK and Republic of Ireland to access world leading skills in traditional tailoring pattern drafting and construction. It intends to bridge the gap between the tailoring industry and education providers by providing a platform for students to apply and develop their manufacturing skills from a technical and creative perspective, regardless of year of study. HTSA focuses on making and handling wool cloth as opposed to research and design thus encouraging students across multi disciplines to enter, this could include fashion, costume, apparel, fine art, product and more. It is intended that this competition will have a positive influence on the students’ career direction and aide in developing their skills set to help make a valuable contribution to the realisation of their aspirations and personal goals.
